A Central Florida inmate death was recently announced.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said it investigated the death of the inmate.
27-year-old Liam Thomas, an inmate at the Orient Road Jail in Tampa, was discovered unresponsive by staff late last month, and was transported to Tampa General Hospital.
Preliminarily, it appears that Thomas’ injuries were self-inflicted according to local law enforcement. He had been receiving care at the hospital until he was pronounced deceased days later.
Law enforcement noted that the Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. Next of kin was notified of his death according to HCSO.
